If your child has difficulties with learning, as a parent it can be hard to know how best to support them. Most parents, when faced with either a diagnosis of a specific learning difficulty or even merely the knowledge that their child struggles with a particular area of learning, are desperate to help. Many turn to weekly tutors to support their children through their education but there is a different, more cost-effective and life-long solution.
I offer a package of four hour-long sessions to identify your child's strengths and weaknesses before teaching them a variety of strategies and techniques suited to their individual learning style to help them to achieve their full potential within school and beyond. These sessions can take place at your home at a time that suits everyone.
In the first session, I will spend time with your child discussing their understanding of their strengths and weaknesses and gathering an idea of their academic abilities from their perspective. I'll also spend some time with parents discussing their thoughts on their child's learning and any insights they may have from teachers and school reports. This may run over into the second session if needed.
The final two or three sessions will be individually tailored to suit the needs of your child and will focus on how to utilise their strengths, identify their preferred learning styles and use this to help them achieve their potential and outlining a variety of strategies to help combat weaknesses and overcome difficulties. Further sessions can, of course, be arranged on a session-by-session cost basis.
All packages are tailored to incorporate the specific needs of your child but will also include the general skills and concepts needed at each stage of learning. Mentoring focuses on lifelong learning skills and helping a student to understand their own strengths, work with their weaknesses and build their ability to study independently. I focus on a variety of key strategies to enable students to progress in their learning.
As with face to face mentoring sessions, all packages are tailored to incorporate the specific needs of your child but will also include the general skills and concepts needed at each stage of learning. Should students prefer to meet virtually for any reason, I am happy to offer remote sessions via online video platform.
Whether in a face-to-face format or via an online video platform, a four-hour package costs £160 inclusive of all preparation work, resources and direct contact time with myself. Any extra sessions can be arranged on request and will cost £45 per session.
